Zera

RESEARCHUI/UXAPPAI

Humanising an AI-life coaching app to solve retention problems.

Zera is a beta AI-powered life coaching app that helps users navigate daily challenges by analysing behavioural patterns and offering personalised insights through text or voice conversations.

Timeline: 6 months

Role: LLMs, Product Design, User Research, Prototyping.

Tools: Unity , Logic Pro X

Challenges

Onboarding completion: To prepare an onboarding flow that maximises the % of users who complete onboarding.

Retention: 60% of users don’t return for a second conversation, so the first session needs to deliver value.

Solving the problem one UX insight at a time

OFFLINE UX

How people integrate the app into their lives and speak about it with their friends will determine whether they come back.

NUDGE THEORY

Reflection & future thinking is an overwhelming & daunting process for the less motivated. They need to be nudged into action.

NUGGET DATA

Data collected in small doses, through a number of small tasks, spread out on different pages, is easier for the user to provide.

HUMANISATION

AI’s tend to be robotic & prevent users from opening up. Can the product be humanised to make them feel welcome?

WRITING

The tone of speech in titles, subtitles, explainers, CTAs, & all things other than the bot, can be made more coloquial.

Dawn; Rising, rising light

GRADIENT PLAY

Zera is an uplifting Hebrew name that means “dawn,” “rising,” and “rising light.” As though plucked from a dream, Zera brightens the room—aligning with little sunbeam's natural charm.

Registration flows

Problem statement: 32% of users don't finish the onboarding process. How can we increase this percentage?

STEP 1: ONBOARDING

Account creation with email or socials so all data henceforth can be assigned to the profile

STEP 2: AI CHAT

Introducing users to the essence of the app, not the full application functionality. Showing a nugget of what is possible without immediately overwhelming them.

STEP 3: PRODUCT USP

Sharing the unique features that Zera offers and how it can help users, with a 3 card slider on a single page. Each card is to the point with minimal text.

STEP 4: SCHEDULING

Give people a reason to come back. Psychologically, if they’re setting a schedule they are likely to come back on the set date.

Landing Screen

The homepage has been transformed to a goals page because it should always be the first thing the user sees when they open the app. Their goals will motivate them to talk more with the Zera AI and keep coming back to achieve their goals.
